Further review of the development and use of what the renewable industry calls "fasteners", and where they are used on the wind turbine as well as the alloys or metals used to manufacture them.

KEEPING BOLTS TIGHTENED

Review of the importance of wind turbine blades and the hub, rotor and tower assembly systems including how and why they are "fastened" systems.

BOLTED JOINT AS A SYSTEM

(Lecture & Lab) Hands-on understanding of major wind turbine tower framework including each tower section, the basement, and yaw deck.

BOLTING PATTERNS

(Lecture & Lab) Overview of how fasteners are utilized for use in conjunction with ERAD, HYTORC, and bolt tensioning systems, and how to use these tools for maintenance.

TIGHTENING WITH TORQUE & TORQUE TENSIONING

(Lecture & Lab) Hands-on training of HYTORC hydraulic torqueing systems. Work with actual tensioning and torques systems that will complete maintenance on tower assembly, the nacelle, and rotor system.
