Goldwind Works is a Goldwind Americas training program to attract, train and develop talent to meet the growing need for qualified wind energy technicians. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Wind Technician is the fastest growing job in the U.S., and is on track to grow by 108 percent over the next decade. That’s more than twice the growth as the second fastest growing job.

The goals of Goldwind Works are:

  • To create awareness of employment opportunities within the wind industry,
  • To offer opportunities for participants to experience a wind energy project up close,
  • Provide a meaningful training program to launch people into a career in the wind industry.

To abide by industry and product safety regulations, and for the personal safety of the individual, the training in Montana requires specific qualifications. The below statements must be true of the applicant for the Montana-only training component of the Goldwind Works program. Please check ‘yes’ if all these statements below are true, and you would like to be considered for the Montana training:*

  • Ability to climb 285 steps on a ladder, or the equivalent of 100 meter tower
  • Personal weight must not exceed the maximum weight limit specified by the manufacturer for the PPE equipment (285 lbs.)
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend technical instructions and documentations
  • Successfully pass a drug test
  • Ability to constantly climb stairs and ladders 60-125 meters in height
  • Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 70 lbs. in weight
  • Ability to frequently walk, stand, look up/down, balance, stoop, twist, kneel, and bend
  • Ability to constantly grip and manually manipulate, often with repetitive motion, items such as, but not limited to, hand tools and turbine parts
  • Comfort constantly working in confined spaces and at heights over 100 meters
  • Ability to speak, read, comprehend all safety instructions and training materials which will be in English, and write in English
  • Ability to successfully participate in all training courses, including controlled descent
  • Ability to meet all hearing and vision requirements, which include the ability to perceive depth and distinguish colors, sufficient to perform training activities and use close range radios
  • Ability to train in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions
  • Comfort training remotely in a turbine as part of a team with limited supervisory interaction

Meeting all requirements is not guarantee of admission into the program, as there are a limited number of spaces, and participation in the program is not a guarantee of employment or any other contractual relationship with Goldwind or its affiliates. In order to participate in the program, the participant must sign the Goldwind Works standard waiver and release form.
